The Blu-Ray drive is faster than the 360 drive on average, streaming is also constant and thus predictable.
Just take a look at Uncharted, no HD install time, no in-game loading, best looking console game to date, good varierty as well especially the upriver Jetski and Jeep chase sections are jaw dropping. You should check out this game and compare to 360 exclusives like Mass Effect plagued by the texture popups and framerate issues. With regard to future Naughty Dog games check my sig.
512 MB RAM is huge for an efficient console running optimised games, the PS3 has a default harddrive which provides a RAM advantage over the 360, compare with virtual memory on the PC. (also the 360 is designed to use the EDRAM which is really limited, best results in 600p with AA like in COD4 at 60 FPS, no need for tiling at this rendering resolutionm, which else limits performance dramatically going higher combined with AA)
