Hm? That's not all I think a remaster is. Textures get updated, and lighting gets upgraded, but yeah, it's essentially a re-release, with the same basic engine. Is that bad? No, since remasters are cheap to make and bring in easy profit. But that is the fundamental definition of a remaster.

Now, a remake is building a game for the current platform from the ground up. It's much more expensive, and the risk is much, much higher than a remaster.

I believe there will be a lot more remasters than remakes overall for that reason.

Not arguing what's good or bad, just what the facts are.

And yes, I believe there will be more remasters than remakes. Just want it to be highlighted that remakes do in fact happen at least a few times a year, for whatever reason.

Secondly, it's only natural that a new gen will see 'ports'. The same thing happened last gen, and the gen before it.

However, one main difference though with Disney, is their "vault" strategy. Disney doesn't just remaster. That's only 50% of the strategy. I don't see how Sony could successfully complete the disney strategy currently, so it's kind of dumb for them to use Dis as an example.

You seem to be under the impression that I'm against remasters/ports/whatever. I'm not. I was just pointing out that there will be a lot more remasters than remakes, that's all. I'm fine with that.

Also, I'm not the one using this as an example, so I'm not sure why you're telling me that my example is dumb. The CEO of SCE used Disney as an example, not me.

No, I do not seem to be under that impression. What is your reasoning? I'm just stating that you left a part out that you've now included. For others who read your post, it is important that they read all the facts. It was just a small mistake, an innocent omission. Look back at your first two responses to me starting with the one quoting the OP's source. You also said "re-imagining is just a softer word for re-mastering".

Look I'm not trying to paint anyone here in any light. I'm simply writing exactly what happened. You made a point. You omitted a part that I felt important. You then included it. Now you're saying your whole argument is that you included it. I'm saying you missed it, and I agreed with everything except for the omission, and that now that you've included it, I completely agree. lol It's silly. There's no reason for you to try to clarify. I'm not under any impression.

Lastly, what is with this persecution complex lol? I said very clearly "I don't see how Sony could successfully complete the disney strategy currently, so it's kind of dumb FOR THEM to use Dis as an example". I know you didn't use it. I read the article.

Let this be the end of it. We both agree that there will be more remasters than remakes, and that source is not distinctly about TLOU, and that this is most likely about ps3 games (since absolutely nobody skipped the ps2 gen, so say the sales :D).

We agree on everything. Done! :D
