Then we turn around and expect something to be done about immigration just cause politicians are complaining about it. I'm just so tired of seeing people online aruging about this topic when it literally means nothing and there are so many more important issues we should be focusing on. Yet just like always politicians have us arguing about the same thing over and over again immigration, abortions, and taxes. |
I disagree. Running on a platform of lowering the defense budget dramatically, has about as much chance of passing as running on a platform of Atheism. Though, at least wanting to lower the defense budget isn't against the law in certain States. It's not about 'just forget it' it's about being branded unpatriotic, a terrorist sympathizer, not wanting to support our troops, etc... any opponent of this hypothetical individual, could very easily just use the aforementioned statements to bury an opponent. (And remember, this is the people who're voting...not politicians).
Besides, you're expecting this hypothetical individual to also match up on more 'hot button issues', as well. Like abortion, gay marriage, immigration, etc... And to say immigration isn't an issue kind of marginalizes something that's actually quite a big issue in the US, presently. Immigration is a huge issue right now, no matter what side of it you land, it impacts a great deal of people, and they all have pretty strong emotions about it.
