umm ps now is to play ps3,2,1 games on ps4(and other stuff)

Microsofts cloud is to provide compute power to xbox one native games, which means if games require cloud even for their single player (ala sunset overdrive) then it is always online

for now...

Its the first step after all.

wise up.

Well ps4's lead system architect is critical of cloud for processing:

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2009150/ps4s_mark_cerny_critical_of_cloud_computing.html

but once they do/if they do, we will be equally critical of them.
But they're not...
And they also originally didn't intend to have an always online situation.

They also orignally didn't intend to charge for multiplayer.

For PS4 they did. It was snuck in, but definitely not hidden at the february launch event.
I mean, it's not like they could charge for online midway into the ps3's life cycle.
Anyone who thought PS Plus wouldn't be the xbl gold equivelant is really.. well.... stupid.

We are criticising the new gen. With every gen there are new policies and features.
From day 1, all of sony's policy's have been met.

From day 1, all of microsoft's policy's havent been met. Some have been changed, binned, kept or delayed.
The one in question is always online.

In the same token its not like Microsoft can sneak in always online after they have already released a console that doesn't require always online. There is no way they can now enforce DRM because MS does not publish all games and non DRM games have already been released. If some games require the cloud then those games will be always online by their nature but the console cannot suddenly become "always online" because there is no way to enforce it at this point. Every single game released on XB1 would have to require the cloud and that would make no sense. If MS was really that bullish on always online they would have never dumped the idea in the first place. There is a chance that they may try to go fully always online next gen but they have pretty much given up on it for this gen. The cloud is just a gateway drug to get people used to the idea just like PS + on PS3 was a gateway drug to get people used to subscriptions. They'll ease people into this gen and then go all the way next gen.
