At the same time, I have to be honest about the situation, and say that I do not want nor would I feel entitled to an EBT card, because that would enable me to not have to work towards a better quality of life. It would keep me complacent, because I would be just comfortable enough to keep doing what I'm doing and not be in any particular rush to change my situation. Oh, and did you know that in certain states, like Michigan where I live, there are now EBT cards with cash allowances, which means you can go to an ATM and WITHDRAW CASH, at which point what little control there was over the use of the funds is then completely gone, and you can literally use it on whatever you please. |
Morally questionable it may (or may not) be, but giving money to the poor, especially cash, has proven to be quite economically viable.
$1 from a wealthy or middle class person (let's face it, most of that money is not coming from people like you who are, self-admittedly, just above the line) given to a poor person will go a lot further in this economy. It's called the multiplier effect, because the poor will spend that dollar (the rich won't), and spend it quicker than the middle class would.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
