I just started replaying Earthbound last week for the first time in like 3-4 years. I'll tell you why.

It's a very simple top-down RPG (old-school Dragon Quest Style) that makes gameplay very simple and clear. It's a game with a vibe like no other that captures you with it's honest and simple approach to the mythos of the game. It's an ordinary world with amazing things happening in it.

You really feel like you have adventured very far because of how crazy an adventure it is. In a normal Medieval type RPG the "world" of the game never changes beyond what you expect so there is less a sense of traversing and having travelled very far in the game. Earthbound, however, does not lack in that department.

Beyond that there are many ways of deeply looking into the game's meaning that will be subjective to the viewer.
