Well, I disagree by and large. I'd argue that it was NINTENDO that created the modern gaming industry, and Sony that changed the playing field (something Sega had already started going however). But I'm sure you've heard these arguments many times by now. And I don't think the PS4 is saving anything in the industry; Wii U doesn't have DRM, so that's not anything PS4 is saving us from really. They, Sony that is, have however started to take a fee for playing online and accessing certain online features. Way to save the industry.
