I certainly hope there are secrets characters, but I can't imagine there being much more than they've already revealed! Unlocking the characters was always my favorite part of Smash. I know it sounds silly, but if they're just going to reveal every single one I think I'll just play the game at a friend's rather than getting my own copy. Unless there's a really robust single player mode, which is doubtful.
Remember how Sakurai said there would be no Subspace Emissary-type mode because everyone just spoiled everything online before you could play? Yeah......
