Rayman isn't a Nintendo character, the fact they gave him a trophy says something. Also the argument that 'they only asked for 2D references' says nothing. You make 3D models from 2D references (I've done it myself); art-style concerns and/or not being a pest are very good reasons to ask for just 2D references. The fact Ubisoft volunteered more than that is awesome but hardly says Nintendo has lesser plans for him.
If he's a not a character then why include the trophy, its not like he's a native part of Nintendo or connected to another third party character.
Also, it doesn't mean the leak isn't true, other characters who weren't on it have been added. But the idea that its definitely Shulk being announced (and only Shulk) would make this utterly insane, and turn today into a crazy as all hell double reveal.
