You are right. It's not a niche market. Even with PC sales decline, PC games are stronger than ever. But my statement is also nowhere near ignorant. There's a lot of 'buts' when talking about PCs. I still think that everything that have more options is also more complex. So... Yes, it's not cost-prohibitive, but what about cost-benefit for people who just want a simpler answer? PS4 is more powerful than most PC, while also cheaper and simpler. But yes, if you research, if you find more elegant ways to put a PC on your living room (like streaming to a smart tv), if you buy a joystick, if you are accustomed to downloading games, then you have a very good cost-benefit. But that's A LOT of ifs and not all of then, don't you think? I don't think such commodities can be ignored. When we talk about the PC cost, we have to compare side-by-side to consoles so we can understand what they fear so much. So the PC cost argument is not so easy to 'rest'. |
I wasn't referring your post, I was referring to the one after that I directly quoted.
And gaming PC sales are up, even though consumer desktop sales are down. Not to mention almost any a lot of graphics card bought within the last two years is already more powerful than the PS4, which is based on the 7870, a budget mid end card from 2 years ago.
You're Gonna Carry That Weight.
