Why is that likely? Who would have an interest to forbid them to supply the demand? Monolith Soft? They would get their cut of the additional sales!

And it has not even to be a retail version. Why not offer the game in the eShop, downloadable to Wii and Wii U consoles?

Monolith Soft would have final say in whether they could reprint it. Nintendo only distributed and published it. The set agreement would have been for X retail copies. This would require a new agreement.

They won't bring it to Wii U eShop any time soon for one reason, it diverts resources from the sequal that is coming.

And what prevents Monolith Soft and Nintendo to make a new agreement about a reprint? These renegotiations happen every day in the software industry, don't act like it's something unthinkable. In this special case, it would even be a win-win-situation.

Why is offering a retail title additionally as download title (which is even more profitable) "diverting resources"? It would even be good advertisement for the sequel.

Because the Wii Shop doesn't support it and the Wii version of the game has to be ported to Wii U. It's not a quick port job. It diverts resources that could be used elsewhere
