Wait, who's talking about the American Revolutionary war here? That's not even a factor. My post before was comparing what one party (the status quo/ruling force) wanted vs. those who were against it. IE: The confederate states=the British occupation vs. the Union /northern states=those seeking to return ireland to the Irish. I get that it can be a bit odd of a correlation, as the original topic is about independence.
