Both games are side scrolling fighters, but DoA is a 3D fighter just like Tekken. 

Oh , I havent played Tekken yet so I dunno.  At least its not just side scrolling. (no really, DOA you slighly change positions and can fall of things like a bridge....but KINDA sidescrolling too.)

 

Maybe I just dont enjoy the just fully sidescrollers because I had a very bad 2/5  expeirence with Streefighter 4 3D.....
