"Also, just so you know, the PS3 at this exact week sold just about what the PS4 did (well, almost, 96k and not as much in terms of global sales) and it was already selling poorly so what does that tell you?"

It's because this week the ps3 had a price drop...  (-100$)

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/TECH/fun.games/07/09/sony.price.reut/

So you are comparing a no major summer week of the Ps4 with a price cut week of the Ps3.

You are also forgetting that the PS3 was still priced more than what the PS4 is now at that time of that jump. The price is what solved a lot of the issues and it sold better than the cheaper PS4. What does that tell you about the demand of the PS4 as of now?

"What does that tell you about the demand of the PS4 as of now?"

That the demand is low because it is summer and the Ps4 haven't had a major game since may. So it can't compete with a console during a price cut week. What I think is that the demand will probably rise when big games like Destiny will be availaible. Plus, the Ps4 sold 4 millions in 2014 vs 4 millions Ps3 from nov to july 2007.
