I built a $400-500 desktop 4 years ago and I've been gaming on it without any issues. I'm only now starting to feel that I will need to upgrade soon. I will plop in a new processor/vid card and be set for the rest of this gen.
I have found pc gaming to cost considerably less than console gaming.
