I admit to just trying to help the man with this difficult and monumental decision. It will possibly shape the rest of his life.

Then a better analogy would have been to use when Canada was actually under British rule and not independant from Britain since that would actually relate to the situation he is in because it was pretty much the same thing that happen (with various differences) and it actually happened unlike this "USA owned Canada" Which is a complete lie.

Personally if it was me, I'd vote to seperate but at the same time, I am Canadian and we've been seperated for a while now and we have been doing well as we have tons of resources. Not sure on what Scotland has for resources to build an economy though from a quick glance, they seem to have quite a bit. I always figured it was mostly tourism and their economy has been growing So they may not have too much trouble once they get past the first few steps on being on their own and the decisions that are made as good ones and things are not mismanaged. So in the end, if I was Scottish, I'd vote to seperate :)
