Because the handheld games only went to convolute the story, which has been a jumbled mess from the get-go. It's like in metal gear, kojima would spread on the crazy nice and thick but then would back out with some deus ex machina bullshit because he can't figure out a reasonable explanation for his bullshit (I'm looking at you, liquid's arm), whereas kingdom hearts has gone the other way by trying to cover it with ever more crazy bullshit to the point where the story is basically some sort of frankenstein's monster, except it's only made of cocks; and the cocks all belonged to the patients of a south american insane asylum, but the patients didn't go in crazy, they were subjects to cruel experiments by a massive conglomerate trying to create a better age defying makeup; also the experiments were on their cocks.
