As for invoking "hype" to explain Wii sales... you seem to be ignoring the hype that was driving the launch PS4 sales, too. Hype is also known as "people want it". What is notable is that Wii hype remained for about two full years before even starting to weaken, whereas PS4 sales rate has dropped significantly over the last few months beyond the drop expected by the summer drought (consider that both XBO and Wii U have improved in that time).

As for comparing between PS1 and Wii... if you have any evidence for your claim, I'd be happy to see it.

Well I guess the library of the WII was bigger. What I don't understand is why to use the WII for reference when this console is a UFO.  What is the point for a console to sell like the WII if it is to collapse during the gen. At the end the WII sold less than the PS1 and will sold probably less softwares than the 360 and Ps3. The numbers of PS4 will raise when major titles will be launch and when the price will drop like a normal console and no like a WII. So I don't know why some people claim that the Ps4 is doomed using the odd WII numbers for reference.

 

Edit : And I think if we say that Ps4 is selling bad because it aren't selling like the WII what should we say of the wii numbers in the last gen ? Less than Ps1 & Ps2. So what was this console ?  a failure... ? ridiculous.

Ah, I see, so basically it all comes down to "if it sells like Wii, it's a bad console", right? And Wii was all "teh cazualz", so if nothing is selling to "teh cazualz", it's not a problem, because who needs "teh cazualz", right? I see what your game is, now.

The fact that is relevant here is that, throughout the previous generation, one console, at least, was always selling strongly. And not just "PS4-strongly", but actually strongly. PS4 numbers have been rather lacklustre by comparison. When PS4 numbers aren't 3x the kind of numbers that PS3 saw when people were constantly ridiculing it for how poorly it was selling, when PS4 numbers are about half what the PSP was able to get in June 2007 and about equal to PSP numbers from June 2005, when the PS4 is being held up for its incredible ongoing sales when popular systems from previous generations all did similar or better in terms of ongoing sales numbers, and when people still talk as though PS4 is dramatically dominating similar to PS2 when its current sales are not that much higher than XBO or Wii U, and then the people doing this call those who criticise the attitude "ridiculous", I can't help but think of pots and kettles.

This is especially true when you accuse people like me with hyperbole, while being hyperbolic yourself. Nobody said it was a failure (although it's funny how people like you have no problem hurling words like "failure" at other systems, but get all defensive when someone suggests the Sony system isn't doing as well as it should be). What I said was that the industry is anaemic, as demonstrated by the fact that people have to refer to 100k per week as "strong sales", and that PS4 sales aren't selling nearly as well as some people think.

I also notice that you still haven't provided any evidence to support any of your claims. I've backed up my points with numbers, either official ones or VGChartz ones (which might be less trustworthy, but it's better than nothing).

Of course the WII is not a good comparison because it has the most strange sales curve in the history of gaming. The Ps4 will probably not dot the same numbers that the Ps2 but I don't understand how you can judge the Ps4 now. You should just wait because this kind of console has better legs than the Wii. Ps4 should be compare to consoles like the Ps1 or Ps2.

And when I used the word "ridiculous"  it's not about your statements but because if we compare the leaders of every generation finally the WII has the lowest numbers (Since the SNES) despite of its amazing first years. So to use the numbers of the WII to say that the Ps4 is doing bad sales it's not very relevent because finally the PsOne was doing the same and at the end sold more consoles than the WII.  

I don't know what will be the situation in the next years but I am sure that is too soon to say that the Ps4 is not doing well. However, I am not saying that you are wrong just that it's too soon.
