Ironic how a thread about how excuses for PS4's good sales are irrelevant has turned into a thread about making excuses for PS4 not selling as well as the Wii...

Protip: Your excuses are irrelevant ;)

Protip: the Wii was a phenomenon, not the norm. It roped in tons of casuals and people who would never buy a console otherwise (moms, grandmas, grandpas, retirement homes) who moved on to mobile gaming and never looked back. Period. Comparing the two is useless. The console industry is not drying up (a,laughable idea), its simply returning to normal.

Yeah, its so strange to see a console sell 100mil...that has never happened before. Well if you ignored the fact that it has happened through each of the last three generations...

Once again, I just find it funny how a thread about how irrelevant excuses are has turned into a thread full of excuses...

I will repeat when I said that the PS4 was selling well, but its sales are nothing to brag about...

PS: I would like to see your source with PS2's first summer's sales

EDIT: I would also like to point out that we don't have official NPD numbers for June yet, and given VGC's track record, they could be anywhere...

Yeah but Wii was different! Wii sold unbelievable good at the first 3-4 years but then the sales droped so hard, nintendo had to push next gen because they knew they couldn't compete week-to-week with PS3/360 anymore.PS2 and PS1 on the other hand sold less than Wii in the 3-4 years timeframe but didn't have massive drops in sales like Wii had(PS2 for instance, sold ~50millions after PS3 was out).

Ps4 is only behind Wii and this is not a bad thing because Wii was something abnormal.PS3 sold a lot less than PS4 in the same time frame and reached 80+ millions in 7 years. It will probably reach 90 millions if sony give 10+ years support like they did with PS1/2.

Do you Imagine how much PS4 will sell in 7 years? probably 100 millions if keep this pace. and 10 years?
