That was the Dreamcast. However with the Sega Genesis they had a Cable service for games that not many people could actually gain acess to...but was more or less a very early online service.

Don't forget the Saturn, it also has a browser and online play. Sega was extremely ahead of their time. I only harped on the DC online endeavor because SegaNet most closely resembles XBL (pay to play, one unique profile ID, player ratings, central community hub).
