You're saying Sony invented the gaming industry then painting anyone outside the parts Sony does well in as outside the mainstream.

Intresting, so you are telling me what I said because I never said that Sony invented the game industry. If you actually read the OP, this discussion wouldn't be necessary.

Yes.  you did say it.  Look up man, it's the topic.  "Sony created the industry."  That's your topic man.  I don't understand how I could have possibly misinterpeted that.   You clearly said it. Generally, the title of an article sets up the reader's expectations for what that article is about.  So, if I see an article titled "Playstation created the industry, Xbox changed the playing field", I naturally assume the body of the article is meant to show me how Playstation created the industry (and how Xbox changed it too I guess).  If your post is not meant to show how Playstation created the industry, then you made a very bad title, and if I misinterpreted your article, that's why I did it.  Titles are important.

Now then, with this I have come to the conclusion that the industry we have today was created by PlayStation with the PS1. In this 5th generation, everything changed, from the market demographic to the importance of 3rd parties.

The Wii doesn't count because those people aren't gamers despite the fact that they bought game.

Handhelds don't count because they don't include Microsoft, although that didn't seem to matter when we were discussing the PS1 gen.  So yeah, just cutting out the parts they didn't do well in.

Beyond the issue of bias, cutting out the PC, handheld, and mobile sectors completely ruins any claim of a complete analysis.  You can't pretend home consoles exist in a vacuum and that arcades, PCs, handhelds, and even mobile gaming didn't effect them.

This isn't an analysis of the entire gaming industry, only an assessment of why the current home consoles are in the state they are in. This is a history in brief, it should be apparent that the only industry this analysis is concerned with is that of the home console industry, that the only relevant effects of PCs, handhelds, and mobile gaming devices is how they affect the home console industry. The purpose is to understand why the state of this industry is the way it is. Why 3rd party support on Nintendo's platform is dwindling when it was the leader of the 3rd and 4th generations.

You're dissagreement is due to the fact that you are looking for something that isn't here. This is a focused look not a comprehensive one, but you cannot disagree with my points only on the format of my argument which is structured this way to simplify the issue.

The various contributions of the other companies are irrelevant insofar as this discussion is about 8th generation consoles and what lead up to them.

I'm looking for something that's not there, because it should be there, and it needs to be there if you want to have an opinion on the subject that has any weight to it.  You can't explain "how the industry is the way it is" while ignoring everything you ignored.  And if you want to talk about why Nintendo's third party support is dwindling, then you did kind of didn't do a good job with that either, as hardware specs and media format are not adequetely addressed.
