Bad comparison. The wii had explosive sales because of the motion controls. Once the excitement over them and wiifit was over, the hardware sales suffered massively. Same with xb360 and kinect. PS consoles, on the other hand, keep selling well over longer periods of time because of the combo of good 1st and 3rd party games. Please bump the thread in 6 years if the ps4 doesn't manage to sell 100m by then. The ps4 doesn't need to sell 100k every week. It can do 100m with less than than in some weeks (and more than the wii in other weeks). I have little doubt that it will keep selling well after its 5th year unlike the wii. |
lol, it isn't a bad comparason, I am telling you basically what you need to hit 100m sales. This is something that the PS4 isn't doing. The Wii was hitting more than what the PS4 in 2012. The Wii had never dropped (never checked all the weeks, if it did get to them, it was an outlier) to what the PS4 numbers are now until sometime later in 2012. So with the PS4 selling and following the trend it is, it will never hit 100 mil sales. It will need to sell around what it is now every week on average for the next 9 or so years to make it to 100m which we all know, it will not keep the current numbers. It will slowly drop overall with spikes here and there and we also know that the next generation of playstation will come before 9 years from now otherwise Sony will be the ones that are getting left behind.
