Nah, just a coincidence. Catholicism is not some kind of magic, and God (if it existed) wouldn't make a team happier than the other, right?. God is supposed to be there for everyone. But, if it was was indeed a proof of God playing a role in this World Cup, Argentina's pope would be more influential as he is closest to God than the German pope.
