Not really good idea per say. What happens when you have to replace your TV? Weather it's because of a upgrade or failure. It drives up the cost of one thing. With consoles, I have my systems that are 20+ years old. And just worry about fixing them as sperate devices. My TV can fail or be replaced without any other worries. This also locks consoles from being uprgaded. People keep TV's way longer then a game system. Unless you can take them out and change the internal system or something.

I imagine that would likely be possible if you could build them yourself. Plus if you have Nintendo and Sony doing it I'd imagine they'd each go out of their way to make sure the least educated of fools could effectively upgrade without blasting an arm off.

Not to say anything against either fanbase, there is no shame in having respect for a company that know how to accommodate people and make special efforts to do so, I actually name them because I fully believe they have the sense to do just that during such a sharp transition.
