This is no worse than Nintendo bundling one of their biggest games of this generation with their console at a reduced price, and throwing a code for a free $60 game on top of it. You might even say Nintendo is giving a bigger value in terms of $ than MS is.

Nice try, but the mario kart bundle was 30 more expensive and you got some really old games for it, wich it worked by the way and improved sales. WHy dont you compare that to the titan fall bundle wich offered a brand new game and a 50$ price cut. wich is a bit more desperate in my opinion. even thoy this 75$ bonus is just after a 100$ pricut wich failed horribly.

The MK8 bundle was still $30 cheaper than buying the console and game seperately.  You also got a steering wheel, Wii Remote Plus, and the code for a choice of games that don't drop in price and still cost $30-40 if buying at ToysRUs or similiar store.  So let's recap.

Buy an XBox One get $75 in free games.

Buy a MK8 Wii U, get a $40 game free, $30 off a $60 new release game (MK8), 2 controllers free (priced them at amazon as $12 and $35) total of over $100 in savings.

The $100 pricecut on the One is just the removal of an accessory for a reduced price.  I don't know what the Kinect costs in relation to the bundle but it's not as desperate as you make it sound.  They removed a cost and reduced the price accordingly or maybe a little more to make a round number.

To me, giving MK8 at half off, with an additional free game and accessories on what is one of their best selling games of the previous generation and killer app this year is a lot more desperate than $75 in digital content which minus MS cut of the digital sales, is a lot less than $75 loss to them or even one pack in game.

So according to you if they packed in Titanfall, jumped the price $30 and gave you a code for another One game that would be ok and not desperate, but outright giving you $75 for buying the console is desperate?  Because Nintendo at the expense of $30 more dollars, gave you a big new release for $30 off, 2 accessories worth at least $40, and a code for a $40 game.  As much if not more desperate.  Giving out your biggest at a discount and having to throw in another game and accessories and not even getting a winning week sure sounds bad to me.

Your right, it does sound bad for nintendo. But as I remember nintendo when up like 500% in sales when the bundle came out. But when the Titanfall bundle came out, with a free game of the hotest game for x1 and 1 year of xbox live and lost the entire month like you like to point out. just so you know right there are 120$ of free things on a system that just came out, the it failed and stores wanted to get rid of the huge stock pile so THE STORES(NOT MS) started the 50$ back off on top of the 120$ off game plus live and still lost the month. And what as the boost fot that month like 60% for afterwards plumit to desastrous numbers. While mario kart has boosted sales all month long that is out.

I know perfectly that 400$ is not a pricecut, but does it matter? No. The majority saw it as a pricecut and still dint care for it and gave the x1 a 10-30% boost, so it still failed. After that embarasment the 75$ money back inmediatly after to try again, wich in my opinion is headed for another failur  due to public perception of the x1 has gone down insanely.

So if you see the situation bad for nintendo, I understand, since nobody but x1 fans understand since already 2 desparate mooves have failed them. But again, MS failure is yet to be determine ass nintendo, Just my opinion(and if you seen public perseption on the forums and big sites like kotaku) that the Wii u has been on the rise in popularity since E3 while X1 has gone down and the sales prooves this.

Well first, the promotion for the $75 back is for a very select crowd, it's not as if anyone can walk into the store and get it.  It's something some 360 owners have seen, not a mass panic across the board thing.

The truth is, the One is where the Wii U was last year, without compelling games.  Less than even the Wii U had at the same time.  Titanfall was hyped but it was a new IP, online only and made by a developer everyone hates.  It was also released on PC and 360 so it was not an exclusive like MK8 was.

But the One is also still outselling the Wii U just a few weeks after what was supposed to be the Wii U savior.  It reality it seems like it gave it 100K-200K boost over what it was averaging but it was hardly better than what Titanfall was to the One, and even still for all the hype TF got, many gamers like myself were not interested in a multiplayer only game.  The One is also $100-200 more than the Wii U, so the fact that it is still outselling it week in and week out except for the couple weeks after MK8 came out, I wouldn't hold out for Nintendo taking second this gen.

Let's be clear, neither MS nor Nintendo is doing very well.  I am not a fanboy of any of the 3 but I have chosen each of the 3 as my favorite for one generation or another.  I had a Wii U but sold it and don't own a PS4 or One.  But the big Nintendo releases are not adding up to more sales and the One still has lots of games coming down, there just weren't prepared and are suffering the drought of games that has plagued the Wii U.

These promotions are necessary and a good incentive for motivating people looking for a little more value to purchase one.  MS giving out $75 in space bucks is not a $75 loss for them and it actually a better way than taking $75 off the price of the console for that reason.  Nintendo giving out the extra game seemed more excessive for me because here you had this really great game at half off along with 2 controllers so you'd think that was enough, especially with the history Nintendo has and the lowest price point.  We can go back and forth but I think its safe to say since PS4 doesn't do these cuts, clearly they are in the best position and the runner ups have to do a little more to make up for it.
