The reality is that there is room enough for both, and remakes are not going to be overused because they aren't viable enough to be overused.

The problem is that they will TRY to overuse them, the publishers always do, and that can affect the console or even the industry. You know how it works, if the money they need to create a remake is smaller and they can make a profit, they will do it, removing resources (maybe small teams, maybe full teams) from the new project, creating unnecesaries delays.

I am not saying that remastered/HD versions are the bad idea on themselves, but they need a real purpose to exists...the game should be an old one, or very hard to get or maybe a collection, but releasing almost the same game with a little higher resolution just a year later and for (almost) full price, looks like a bad idea and something that the publishers will abuse (even if only for a period of time).

We usually complain that games like COD are almost the same every year, this remakes ARE the same as last year title, and that is even worst. Give a remake/remaster of a PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era with full HD and I will not complain, but something that came out last year... that is just a cash grab
