Lol.. it's called immersion.  DC specifically put a big chunk of their focus on the minute detailing of the whole environment to create that immersion.. and it's paying off for gamers who actual pay attention and appreciate the details.. it's not like you were driving so fast that you didn't notice cardboard cutout crowds..
