while i have no particular insight either,.. i'd guess animated tv is easier to move quickly on. you can always have a couple teams working on several episodes at a time instead of live tv where the actors have to be present and the sets built meaning a more linear dependance.
but yeah,. pretty quick really.
...although i suppose southpark epsisodes are put together in a week start to finish in order to have timely pop references.
