Stop avoiding the question, I don't want an example of a current player like Makelele, I want to know if you believe that a modern team needs a player like Makelele in it's starting 11 to be sucessful, say yes or no.

If the French coach messed up, why I must consider it as Greece's merit?

An example of a current player answers your question if you can't fathom that I suggest you stop watching football altogether, defensive midfielders are key today and always will be as they have a functional but timelessly important role. You don't have to consider Greece's merit it still won't take the achievement away from them as they beat top teams to win a tournament, no amount of bitter excuses can change that, they played well even if you don't want to acknowledge it.

Defensive midfielders? Don't twist my words. I'm talking about midfielders that are only good at defending. Say yes or no.

An example of a current player don't mean anything. Spain won the 2012 Euro without a 9 despite the existence of Klose.

Wtf are you on about? Midfielders only good at defending and covering are defensive midfielders and your question was answered or is this your way of trying to dig yourself out of a hole, side step and try and make it sound like you meant something else, I'm convinced you're not an actual full on follower of football at this point given your posts. Your comment on Klose makes no sense as Spain had Villa and Torres how ever it now seems you're trying to shift your argument to some strange angle.
