An example of a current player answers your question if you can't fathom that I suggest you stop watching football altogether, defensive midfielders are key today and always will be as they have a functional but timelessly important role. You don't have to consider Greece's merit it still won't take the achievement away from them as they beat top teams to win a tournament, no amount of bitter excuses can change that, they played well even if you don't want to acknowledge it.

Defensive midfielders? Don't twist my words. I'm talking about midfielders that are only good at defending. Say yes or no.
