Umm.........because BioShock 2 played it very safe? The story wasn't as interesting as before, the gameplay was kinda repetitive, it was shorter and easier etc.....

Well, if Bioshock 1 nailed greatness as critics say, playing it safe would only mean you have another hit in greatness. Can't improve from perfection right?

The story was certainly more interesting, and I don't agree about difficulty. All Bioshocks are easy games.

If gameplay was kinda repetitive...that means on Bioshock 1, gameplay was kinda repetitive too.

No, it was not perfect but re-releasing a similar game brings with it negatives. They dont exist in a vacuum.

Playing Bioshock games on the hardest difficulty is not easy, no access to Vita chambers, lack of ammo....theyre simply not easy, they just arent impossible. But the frequency of set pieces in Bioshock 2 as well as the guns/weapons available werent as tailored to the experience

The reason Bioshock 2 was repetitive: Same location, same aesthetics, tacked on nemesis "big sister", "different" Big Daddies it was unimaginiative. They are repetitive because they were already done in bioshock. The entire concept of Bioshock 2 was repetitive BECAUSE of Bioshock 1. Your logic in using it to knock Bioshock 1 is flawed.
