The PS4 is clearly "winning" the 8th generation console race and not simply by contracting and failing less than the competition but by actually growing in total unit sales and total profitability over the PS3. I know it is an awfully early prediction but it should be patently obviously that the PS4 is going to race past the PS3 in terms of hardware & software sales and without having to burn billions of dollars to do so.

Well your right about not having to start with billions in the hole, as I still don't think Sony has recovered all the R&D money from the PS3. Sony only just recently just said that PS4 was starting to make a profit on each unit. So if MS has been making a profit off the Xbox since it launched I would said MS has made more money that Sony so far, however I haven't ever heard anything on Xbox One's profitabilty per unit. I actually think all 3 consoles will sell less than their predcessors simply because the market has shrunk.
