Or because PS3 has a strong game catalogue in every genre and for every kind of gamer, from casual to hardcore, from AAA to indie/arcade, from keyboard + head set online gaming to camera and motion control. Game Cube does poorly in barely any of these fields.

I disagree with everything you just said, and claim the opposite, with exception to motion control since that wasn't a very big thing at the time.
