AAA games aren't killing killing the industry. Mediocre games are killing studios.

Its a competitive market with a plenty of notable AAA games every year. There is no need for games like Murdered: Soul Suspect, Ryse, Knack, etc.

Those games may be mediocre but they are definitely different from the norm. Id rather developers try to make something different and take risks instead of releasing brown grey shooter 492.

What exactly are you whining about? Not everything released at retail is a shooter. There is also plenty of variety if you look through digital releases.

Hence, you can avoid shooters completely and still have plenty to play. If you want a little more variety outside of what core gamers generally enjoy, then maybe you should do more gaming on Wii U and PC.

Absolutely correct. I avoid shooters completely and still have a backlog of games to play.

If anything, AAA games have helped the industry immensely. Without AAA games, we probably wouldn't even have PS4 and XOne, because I seriously doubt people would pay $400-500 to play only Towerfall and Minecraft. Nintendo would probably still be there, releasing 6-8 games per year to a core Nintendo audience of 10 million tops, others would play Candy Crush on their phone, and most current gamers would have been engaged in another hobby, whether movies, butterfly collecting or DIY carpentry.
