So I put a good chunk of today into playing Child of Light. What a fantastic game. People looking for another RPG (what srsly there haven't been enough in the past 12 months? o_O) could do a lot worse than give it a try.

Only downer IMO is the 30fps frame rate. But unlike Rayman (which uses the same engine) it doesn't have the precise platforming elements so it doesn't effect the gameplay at all and visually it looks absolutely stunning. Another "better on Vita" title for me.

That's great to know, the game is interesting and it features an artstyle that fits PS Vita quite nicely imo.

Yeah, this game is outstanding.

There was something in this game that carried me away. Also, I find difficult to cast it in a genere. It has action, turn based combat, charachter management, story, puzzles, tactics, exploration...Of course, if you are a gamer, it must be played on HARD difficulty.

If you are undecided, I suggest to try the free demo on PS3.

Should I feel bad because I played on normal? :P

Then again, I almost always go for the lowest difficulty available. With the limited time and the tons of games that I own, I can't and don't want to spend hours upon hours just trying to get past a tricky spot in the game. I mean, there may not be a difficult spot, but since I can't know beforehand, I always choose the lowest difficulty. Unless I'm replaying a game. I'm a sissy, I know. :P

It also occured to me that Ubisoft published 2 western developed JRPG style games in a very short period of time. And before that, I had almost never seen a western developed JRPG style game. Not that I'm complaining, though.

I really like Child of Light, too. The thing that surprised me most was that they basically took Grandia's battle system and simplified it by turning it 2D. Having just recently played through Grandia II on the Dreamcast, that was a nice surprise. It's also interesting since Ubisoft was the publisher for Grandia and Grandia II in the US and Europe.
