I think it deserves all the outrage. Remember all the outrage when Titanfall re-released on X360 only a MONTH after it was released on X1? Shameless money grabbing I tell you. It was even released for the same price even though it was the inferior version of a month old game.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
