Nintendo

That would be quite the feat, given that Sony has about $8 billion in cash in hand and $12 billion in debt (with a market value of $20 billion), while Nintendo has $5.3 billion in cash in hand, no debt, and a market value of over $16 billion. Nintendo would have an easier time buying Sony than Sony would have buying Nintendo.

Anyway, if Sony were to buy anybody, it should be a studio that would give them something they don't already have. Sony's biggest weakness, I think, is a lack of colour, a lack of child-friendliness. To be clear, I'm not saying they don't have stuff that kids can play... but they have nothing comparable to, for instance, Mario. No, Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank aren't comparable.

Ubisoft almost fits the bill, but I'm not sure there's sufficient value for them in that. As such, I would suggest something more along the lines of certain smaller studios, rather than a publisher. Indeed, I'd suggest that approaching larger indies would probably be the best approach - grow some indie studios with fresh ideas.
