I think in the future less people will upgrade or buy new PCs, consumers are already wary of Vista. For gaming and movies, entertainment in general an advanced dedicated low effort device like the PS3 IMO makes more sense underneath HDTVs for many consumers.

More and more people are buying PC's today, and PC gaming is also making more and more money than before, most of it from digital distribution.

And the PS3 most likely wouldn't even be able to reach Crysis' High Settings.
