The remaster is wanted by quite a lot of people. People who haven't played the game before, as well as some who wants to double dip. There is interest for it. It may not be for you (not surprising), but if there's a lot of talk about it on the internet, obviously it's because there is demand for it. In fact, there was a demand for it before it was even announced. So again, what's the big deal?
Don't get it all you want, but surely the very fact that there's hype and praise for the remaster should speak for itself and give you a good idea why the remaster is happening already.
