Ideally the point would be to use as much of the scale as possible instead of just the top half and reserving the lower half for the very worse of the worse. That just doesn't seem right to me.

Sorry I don't think I was clear. I meant that the average has lowered from a 7 to a 5 but the new 7 now is worth more than the old score. I do kind of get what you are saying but I think that it doesn't really tackle the problem. Since now it will be just much rarer to see games in the 80s+, which is the reverse of now which is that we see very few games in the 10s-20s.

I think it's just due to the 10 point scale is not really a great way to score games, in my opinion at least, I mean what's the difference between a game which has a 15 and a 26? Really anything below 30 is just too bad to care about how bad it is.
