Yes this can open a lot of doors for them with exclusives. Even if they don't get the exlucsives for free it could make the cost of getting a game exclusive very low maybe low enough to have them do it. I don't think Sony wants to waste it's time buying IP's that could potentially leave like what MS does but it's possible they do it once or twice for the right game.
What this effectively does is make it much much harder for MS to buy exclusive anything at this point. DLC,timed exclusives, etc. At this point a delveoper would have to be either crazy or recieve a ton of money to make a game exlusive to the X1.
