console's as just a gaming device will die out as everything is converging on a one device solution for all entertainment, in essence an entertainment hub, and both Sony and Microsoft are heading in that direction, more so the PS3 since it has blu-ray built in out of the box.
Nintendo are really the only ones that will need to change and move into convergence or face being left behind, bear in mind that I'm refering to this happening after the next 5 - 10 years as the article puts it and not in the present.
