When will the 9th Gen start?

Nintendo will make another console. Sony has already said that the PS5 will essentially be a digital console, haven't they? Steam Machines will probably have yearly iterations. Who knows what Microsoft will do with Xbox.

So if Nintendo is the only company who follows the traditional console cycle going forward, how will the generations be defined?
