There are two new characters introduced I believe. The original Persona 3 and 4 are literally from PS2 era, so I'm guessing they're assuming people have already played them since it's been 8 years for P3, 6 for P4. Not to mention they've made anime adaptations of both, so at the worst Nintendo-only fans can literally just watch them to get all the plot stuff for these characters. I played Persona 4 on the PS2 and Persona 3 on PSP though I'm a predominantly Nintendo fan, and I've played a fair amount of Etrian Odyssey, so this game is right up my alley :)
