You mean the Prime Minister? Nouri Al Maliki? He's lost support from even his own Shia allies and no one in the government likes him. He's the one that demanded US troops leave and signed the troop withdrawal agreement. His entire reign has been catergorized by sectarian politics and score settling which eventually led to the Sunnis revolting and starting this whole mess in the first place. He strongarmed all the other Shia parties and now they see a chance to break from his hold. He made his bed. He can lie in it. |
Maliki's approval rating is irrelevant, at present. I was merely pointing out that Iraq has asked for our help in this regard. Whether we actually do anything serious, is up to our elected officials.
