From the amount of negative reviews by users about Train Simulator and the legendary amount of DLC I think it's a safe bet that everyone should avoid it.

It's supposedly for train enthusiasts. So if you aren't one of those, it isn't aimed at you. But if you are, this is apparently a great way to not spend thousands of dollars on an actual train set (assuming you are only buying the DLC for trains you want). Those things can get crazy expensive.

Me being a train enthusiast or not has nothing to do with why I do not recommend the game. The game has an overall negative reception because it's expensive, and unfinished along with the developers flat out refusing to fix issues wrong with the game. There are better trains sims alternatives avaliable on Steam.
