Read The Final Hours of Titanfall.

Save me the trouble?

It's no trouble, the article is well written and is a great in-depth look at all of this development turmoil you are speculating about. It also destroys any idea that Titanfall was a "stolen CoD".

Actually, it is trouble because
a) it's 25k words
b) it's an e-book, not an article
c) it's written by Geoff Keighley
d) it costs a dollar
e) I'm not supporting either Keighley or Respawn with my money

Secondly, crossing streams as you mentioned earlier is actually complicated.

Take this metaphor of a crossing stream.
Two streams have the same fish. They adjoin but don't touch. Which is more likely?
A) That two streams used to be one?
B) Settlers took fish from one stream and populated them in another?

If by "crossing streams" you mean that the team worked on both games (like the fish analogy), then I'd agree. Because that's my assumption. If you mean that Respawn had absolutely no knowledge of the CoD future game, and it was new breach of contract between the two companies by sharing ideas with one another, I would disagree.

Are you crazy?   You don’t cross the streams!! Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
