It's hard to tell on youtube but it looks that way, has a less "fake/GCI" look than on the ps3. Maybe they already had the engine working on ps4 and those cutscenes were actually rendered and recorded on a ps4 ? lol. Or maybe i'm imagining things. |
In-engine cutscenes basically mean (as I am sure you may know) that they used their already existing game engine that they use for the actual game to pre-render the cutscenes of the game but with higher quality assets than they could run in realtime on the PS3. They had already said that the game running in realytime on the PS4 will look better than the cutscenes rendered on the PS3. My guess is that they just ported over their PS3 engine and uprezzed a lot of stuff and added new/more geometry.
So yh, you aren't imagining things.
OP: I skipped the last of Us on PS3 (in addition to GTA5) cause considering their timing and with that last gen trend of remakes I knew there was no way they wouldn't bring those games to the PS4. So basically I held out on playing them for the PS3 so I could play them better on the PS4 :) Now all I need is for them to announce a beyond 2 souls PS4 port cause I skipped that one too. I doubt this will be a primary reason to move consoles though. Its hardly even that big a bargain.
