Yes definitely.
More importantly certain techniques used to get crazy scores have been nerfed substantially. For example enemy ships now leave the screen after they have been spawned for a certain amount of time...this prevents you from allowing the enemies to accumulate.
I noticed that the weapon of the phobos ship is completely different...weaker as well. Enemies do seem to have more "life". However i also noticed that the easier game modes are easier...playing rookie is like playing a game in slow motion -_-
