It didn't ruin the game. OoT is one of my favorite games of all time, but it's flawed, and it's flaws are more disruptive than those found in TP or SS. Like I said, I like and respect it more than those two, but if I had to be objective, they are clearly better made games. TP had three tunics. SS had four shields, all upgradable, and upgradable item. OoT absolutely didn't have more "freedom" than TP or SS in those respects. OoT definitely was less linear, though it wasn't completely free. The combat is mechanically better in TP and SS, and I wasn't even talking about the "combos." I don't agree with those, though I do love Phantom Ganon's fight, but only on OoT 3D. It was atrocious in the original because of how poorly the arrow controlled. Navi didn't have a personality. She just talked. Tatl had a personality. Like I said, I never found either annoying. They were both just there to me. Fi didn't feel like a lifeless robot to me. He felt like a boring character with an interesting gimmick, as opposed to a boring character with a boring gimmick like Navi. OoT's story wasn't even a little complex. TP's story was just bad, honestly. And SS's story was simple like OoT's, but had great presentation, unlike OoT's. The characters were the best part there. The characters in OoT were just as boring as in TP for the most part. Except for TP Zelda. No one is as bad as TP Zelda. But there isn't one character in OoT that comes close to Midna. I agree that OoT was less repetitive than both, and that's a major flaw for them, especially SS. So much potencial wasted, because it started off strong, minus the first two hours. |
I feel like we're are kinda hitting a wall with this discussion. I absolutely agree that OOT had its flaws, but it is what it is. Here's hoping that zelda U is as awesome as ever!
